Budget Friendly Design Tips to Elevate your Home

5 Budget Friendly Tips to Elevate your Design!

1. Layering

This very easy tip can make your simple room feel elevated and high-end. When layering, I suggest staying cohesive and align everything in size order. You can use the least expensive and simplest decor element in the back and bring the better quality upfront. One example are area rugs, they can really bring a space together but large rugs are pretty expensive. This is one way to save, purchase a large simple rug to cover the area and a smaller better quality rug to tie in the decor. This can be done with anything from pillows to wallart.

2. Textures

Texture can bring so much dimension to your home, whether it is used in wallpaper, backsplash, pillows or planters. It can really help define a room without overpowering it, This has also become a trend and so many have been upgrading their planters with plaster and paint. The outcome is not only stunning but eye catching. Don't be afraid to add texture in your home and allow your sense of touch to determine what texture you would like to incorporate in your design.

3. Light and Airy

This is another simple and easy design tip that is not only visually appealing but can also improve the overall mood of your home. Keep things light, not only in color but in items placed in your home. If the colors you have in your home are dark and heavy, it may affect your mood and performance. You also want your home to have flow and be functional, without feeling overwhelmed by the items you have in your design. This is one design tip that may come at no cost, by simply removing items or adding lighter colors to your design.

4. Contrast

This is my second favorite way to elevate a space and so inexpensive. This tip alone can really separate your home design from others. I love a designed space that has deep contrast because it truly elevates a design. This may be my preference but it doesn’t have to be yours and a little can go a long way. A simple color change in pillows or shelving decor helps create contrast especially if you are working with a small space. If you are more bold, you can choose an accent wall, ceiling or cabinet color for deep contrast to create a focal point in your space. You can also utilize a color wheel if you are having a hard time applying contrast to your design

5. Elements of Nature

This is my last but not least favorite design tip. Personally, it’s my favorite and this is because you can find this anywhere and everywhere. It is the one design element that we have been using for centuries and it does not disappoint. Nature can be incorporated in multiple ways, weather through art, material or texture. You can nurture live plants or purchase faux ones either way it allows us to connect with the world we live in and has been proven to reduce stress and promote a relaxing atmosphere. It is also aesthetically pleasing to look at and can really elevate any space weather big or small. I am so happy that this decor element is trending and I hope it never fades out. Give your home some love by incorporating elements of nature.
