How to decorate a blank wall - 4 Wall decor Ideas

Ideas on how to decorate a blank wall

This is a topic that even I had trouble with in the past, how to decorate a blank or empty wall? Your home is fully furnished but there's that one wall that is bare and needs some type of attention. Here are four different ways to solve this problem and each option comes with its own mood board for visualization.

Tip #1 - A vertical picture Wall

This is a simple way to decorate a narrow wall that needs some attention. Adding decent size picture frames to create a statement. I suggest using frames that are between 8"x 10" or 16" x 20" in order to give the wall its own purpose. I added the picture light for dimension and contrast. It's a great accent piece to a simple design.

Tip #2 - Picture Ledge Floating Shelves - Styling shelves

This is a great way to organize family photos and accent decor pieces without creating a gallery wall. Gallery walls are great but sometimes it can look too cluttered. I also suggest picture ledge shelves because they are small in depth and are designed only for picture frames and small decor pieces. This keeps the design organized and compact.

Tip #3 - A small seating area

A seating area is great if you are trying to create a designated area, like an entryway, reading nook etc. You can utilize a small ottoman, bench or stool to create a place to sit. You want to make sure you cover most of the wall to give the space dimension. This can be done by adding picture frames above the seat, a large art piece or a long floor mirror, This way the focal point is not on the seat but the area as a whole.

Small console cabinet decor - blank wall

Tip 4 - A small Console Table

Console tables are usually added in the entryway or in the living room but this is a great way to separate an open space. If you have an open concept floor plan and would like to create some type of separation this will work perfectly. A small console table will create a focal point and establish each space individually

Design is all about perception and giving a wall its own purpose will have your home feeling complete. You can use these four different ideas to style your blank wall and utilize what fits and add pieces that will serve you better. I hope this helps you along in your design journey and if you have any questions or tips, please comment below!
