5 Step Process to Creating a Pre-Designed Room
Hey Everyone!
Let's discuss this new topic, pre-designed rooms, curated mood boards or ready made rooms also known as E-design.
Many of you are aware of e-design, virtual online interior Design or Online interior design service, at the moment there is no official name for this new service. If you are not aware about this service, please read my previous blog post on "What is E-design" by clicking the link.
Interior design as we know it has continuously evolved throughout the years and eDesign has become a new service that many designers have inherited during the pandemic. This new service is an Online Interior Design Service that allows designers to reach out to a broader audience for a more affordable price. As this new service continues to grow so does interior design as a whole.
What is a pre-designed room or ready made room?
This is a new service that only a few designers are utilizing, including myself. A pre-designed room is a room with a specific design aesthetic. I love design and I am constantly thinking about different ways to design a room and that is exactly what this is. It's a designed room with specific furniture pieces, paint color, wallpaper and accent décor items that are chosen for the specific space. Each pre-designed room comes with major furniture pieces, such as a sofa, bed, dining room table etc. The design is an affordable option to a custom e-design service because the design is already made. All pre-designed rooms can be altered to fit your space because you will select the items that will fit your room best. This includes all major furniture, décor pieces, area rug and anything else that was included with the design. Best of all, everything can be purchased at your own pace.
Pre-designed rooms or ready made rooms usually come with a mood board and shopping list which includes the links to everything provided in the design. This makes designing a room effortless and all with the click of a button.
This is my 5 step process to creating a pre-designed room after a specific room is selected.
1) Creating a Mood Board | Design Board
First, I begin with creating a mood board or design board like the one posted above, I am constantly inspired by design through other designers or through color and my mood boards usually are a reflection of this, I make sure to pick the most important furniture pieces, if I am creating a living room design I will begin with a sofa, area rug, accent chair and Tv Mantel. Once the major furniture pieces are selected, I move on to accent decor, wall art etc.
2) 3D Visual Mood Board
This is similar to the mood board above except that the design is put together, like you would have it in your space. This allows the client to visualize the space as whole and decide what they can alter in the design. A 3D mood board brings the design to life and it’s my favorite part of the process.
3) Floor Plan & 3D Visual Rendering
In all of my designs, I include a floor plan because it's important to understand furniture placement. This may confuse some because the floor plan is not specific to an individual client’s square footage. Instead, I create a floor plan for a small living area like a small bedroom, living room, dining room space etc. to ensure that the design can fit a small space by changing out some pieces but maintaining the aesthetic of the design. The design program I utilize turns the Floor plan into a 3D rendering. Although the floor plan and rendering do not include the exact furniture pieces provided with the design, similar pieces are used with the exact dimension of all the pieces displayed on the mood boards.
4) Shopping List
The best part is the shopping list! You get the links to all of the furniture pieces, decor items, paint color, and wallpaper. I include additional pieces so you can have multiple options when designing your home. This makes designing your home unique and easy all with the click of a button.
5) Additional Tips
The last but not least part of this process are the additional tips that I offer. I believe this may be the best addon to all of my pre-designed rooms and this is because I walk you through the design and its purpose. The additional Tips are specific to each design, I walk you through furniture, wallpaper and décor placement, along with how to put it all together. I also include some tips on hanging curtains, how to choose the correct size rug, how to design an odd shaped room and more. The additional tips allow me to walk you through the design without being physically present and gives you the confidence you need to design your space.
Who can benefit from a Pre-designed or Ready made Room?
Pre-designed rooms are suitable for anyone who is too busy for the process that is included with a custom package. In today's world, we are all trying to juggle work, family and life as a whole but still want a home that looks and feels beautiful for an affordable price. I believe everyone should have access to interior design services and I believe that this will be the breakthrough service to reach the masses. You no longer have to spend countless hours searching for the perfect couch or paint color, most pre-designed rooms come with all that you need and more.
Pre-designed rooms or ready made rooms is a new service to interior design and I hope this explains this new service and more specifically what I offer with each design. Each pre-designed room I offer comes with a PDF Download of everything that was discussed above. I will be making more pre-designed rooms and I welcome any feedback to my process or any specific rooms you would like for me to create.
